Anxiety Medication

After a very severe Flair up that landed me in the hospital about a year ago; Every time a got short of breath panic and anxiety would overwhelm me and make it 100X worse .
It got so bad that I was afraid to leave the house or even go from Room to room without my phone in case I needed to call an ambulance .
Last week I started an Anti Anxiety medication that I hope will help.
So Im just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience and if Medication helped.

  1. Hi . Kuddos to you for seeking help with your anxiety. I know many others here have taken anxiety meds and I hope some of them chime in. Did your doctor tell you that it can take a month or two for most anxiety medications to become fully effective? I hope it works and that you will soon be more at ease. Keep us posted, if you don't mind. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Hi, Allan. I do not have COPD (my grandmother did), but I do have anxiety and panic. Medication has helped me, and so has therapy. The medication helps to calm your body, but it's also good to have a place to talk about your anxiety and learn some new tools for coping. For me, the two work best together. Regardless, I am proud of you for doing what you need to do to take care of yourself. Anxiety with COPD is so common and you are not alone. Wishing you peace! -Melissa, team member
