Limit of oxygen intake
I am on level 5 for supplemental oxygen. Is there any way I can get higher oxygen level?

. Does Level 5 still feel uncomfortable for you? We are not medical experts, but, from what I understand, oxygen levels are based on liters per minute and range from 1 to 10. So, there is probably be room to go higher, but your pulmonologist would be the safest person to ask. Can you message your doctor or your doctor's nurse, if you haven't already? Hopefully, others will chime in here with their oxygen levels so you can at least get a feel for what is most common. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member) it happens all the time. And I couldn’t get any answers from anybody, and then I finally asked my new pulmonologist and he said it was unrelated. But today’s day, I still can’t get an answer as to why. The only thing I can think of is that I’m getting some decent oxygen levels, but my lungs have to work so hard to get them there. Maybe that’s why I get short of breath. Thank you for your reply. On my last visit to my pulmonologist, I asked him that question if I could go higher than five and he said no so maybe he doesn't know he's talking about I don't know.

. Your pulmonologist might have good reasons for keeping your oxygen level at 5. Do you feel comfortable asking for an explanation? - Lori (Team Member) I also wonder if he is talking about the specific machine you're using. If you're having a hard time, it might be worth it to call the office and have him explain this to you in more detail. Don't be embarrassed about this -- it's his job to make sure you understand the plan for your COPD management. Keep asking questions until it's clear, and if he has any problems with this, it might be worth seeking a second opinion from a different doctor, which is also your right.
